Happy 90th Birthday, Mama Greg

Today is Shane’s Granny’s 90th Birthday.  When I told Peanut we were going to visit and take her a present she said “it’s a party”. Peanut thinks that every party has to have a cake and candles.  So I rounded up a Fudge Round and a candle and we went to visit.  I told Peanut repeatedly that it was Mama Greg’s birthday and she said “it’s my birthday”.  I finally quit arguing with her.  It’s her birthday.  We lit that candle and all sung to Mama Greg and she loved it.  Here is a picture of her on her special day.

Day Out With Thomas

Lowegan, Lauren, Jessie and I went today and rode Thomas.  There was lots of other fun things to do there and Peanut had a blast.  Jessie made her mad when she could not walk by herself.  She thinks she is a big girl.  Then we ate at Demos’ (Lowegan got to choose).  We had lots of fun.

Back from vacation

We got back from our short unplanned vacation to the mountains today.  We only stayed 3 nights but that is enough to wear you down with a 2 year old wanting to do everything.  We did alot of our usual stuff, riding go carts and laser tag, but then we did some riding of the merry go round and tea cups too.  Lowegan took my spot on the teacups, they make me want to throw up.  We did go to the Aquarium and Peanut enjoyed that.

Then when I got home today, my new lens for my camera was here.  I am so excited.  I have not even read the directions, but already have been out trying it out.  Of course, I am going to post my favorite first picture with it.

Now I need to go cook supper, but I just want to be outside playing with my new toy.  Oh yeah, also waiting for me today was or me my order from Amazon.  I had ordered Bubbie the new Temeraire Book and I got a very important book “Toilet Training in Less than a Day”.  I’m crossing my fingers that it works for Peanut.  If this one works, I need to look for one to get rid of the “FooFoo” in less than a day.

Grandpa’s Tree

This is Grandpa’s Tree.  My Daddy bought it for my children when my father-in-law passed away.  We planted the tree the day we buried Guinn.  I wanted to start a tradition of taking their pictures in front of the tree each year.  This is the 1st annual Grandpa’s tree picture.

Camp Craig

Camp Boxwell is about 1600 acres located on Old Hickory Lake.  Troop 367 was at Camp Craig this trip.

These are the pre-made tents that are for this summer camp.  Lowe and Connie took their own tent to sleep in so the mosquitos can’t get in.

Here’s Peanut in the 3 room tent that Lowe is staying in, he has his own “reading room” he calls it.

This is Peanut in the reading room.

4th of July

Lowe called today and wanted us to come early so we could go to the shooting range with them.  They got to skeet shoot this week and wanted to do it again today.  We headed out to be there by 4:00 but got a call they had cancelled the shooting.  So we got there early and did some fishing.

Even Peanut wanted to do some fishing.  Everytime that she would bring the line she would say I did it.  She thinks she caught the worm.

We ate pork chops, scalloped potatos, salad and cherry cobbler at a huge dining hall.  The food was not that bad.  It was a pretty good night.

Happy 4th of July

Today we are going to be lazy and hang out around the house.  I have already washed 2 loads of clothes, some dishes and am putting off mopping the floor till Peanut naps.  We are supposed to be at Boxwell around 4:30 to have supper with Lowe.  Grandma is going to go with us, she is missing Lowe pretty bad too.  So that’s the plan for today.  Hoping to get some good pictures tonight of all the scouts.  Will post them tomorrow.

Have a safe and fun day.

This is Peanut 2 years ago with her Little Miss Independance outfit on.  I have her the same thing (bigger) to wear tonight.  She has changed so much and is a handful, but is still beautiful.

Picture

Here’s a new picture of Peanut.  I thought I’d get her to “pose” beside my neighbors beautiful holly hocks.  No such luck.  She is fussing at me in this picture.  Can you tell?

I tried to use the macro on my camera.  It caught the little dust the bee was stirring up.  I’m gonna keep practicing with the macro setting.

And I am saving to get a bigger lens for my camera.  Hopefully that will help me get some better shots of my children.  I think they are getting tired of me chasing them with a lens in their face.  Spoils the fun.

Its raining here this afternoon and Shane and Peanut are taking a nap, so it is surprisingly quiet here right now.  Lowe leaves for Boy Scout camp tomorrow.  He’ll be there till Saturday.  I have him all packed up and ready to go, but am dreading him leaving.  It’s so lonesome when he’s gone.  He keeps me on my toes and takes such good care of Peanut.

VBS

We had our vacation bible school day camp on Saturday.  We studied and did crafts for two or so hours and then we went to the fellowship for some fun on the water slide.  It was an all day thing, but I had to take Peanut (and myself) home for a nap in the middle of it.  We came back and had a cook out.   The children had a blast.

On June 19, 1929 …….

a beautiful baby was born.  She was the second daughter to “Sook” and Mary Rose Chambers.  Her older sister was Dot and the younger sisters to follow were Cat, Betty Jo and then a baby boy Larry.  She married Cecil Glen Sircy on December 18 when they were only 17 years old.  She married him even after he left her in jail in Alabama.  Why did my sweet Grandma get put in jail, you ask?  On Friday, December 13 they ran off to get married and Granny Chambers got wind of this and called someone and they ARRESTED Grandma and put her in jail until Granny Chambers got to Alabama to pick her up.  Grandaddy always said there was nothing for him to do while Grandma was in the slammer, so he just came on back home.  They were very determined, so they just went 5 days later and got married anyway.

Happy Birthday, Grandma.  We love you to the moon and back.
